Updated ‘G-forms’ and HMRC guidance for SEIS and EIS

By Philip Hare
30 April 2026

HMRC have made changes to their online ‘G‑forms’ which are used for advance assurance applications and SEIS1/EIS1 compliance statement submissions.

HMRC have also published updated guidance following the changes introduced by Finance Act 2026, announced at the Autumn Budget 2025.

In addition to the legislative updates required by Finance Act 2026, HMRC advise that they have made a number of corrections and usability improvements to the advance assurance and S/EIS1 compliance statement G‑forms based on user feedback. These changes are intended to reduce the need for HMRC caseworker follow‑up queries by helping applicants provide the correct information first time. They include:

  • revised wording on commonly misunderstood points
  • improved question flows
  • the ability to save and print applications, and
  • allowing authorised agents to provide email authority within the forms

The team at Philip Hare & Associates have reviewed and tested the updated forms and have fed comments and ‘teething problems’ back to HMRC. They have advised that they are looking into these points.

Please do get in touch if we can be of assistance with advance assurance applications or S/EIS1 compliance statement submissions to HMRC.
